First opened in 1933 by Max Swartz, the current owner's grandfather, Swartz Glass Co. originally collected bottles for redemption in downtown Los Angeles. We then began replacing car windshields as a main service. However, over the years, we became a full-service glass company thanks to our loyal patrons and local residents.
After World War II, Max's two sons, Ray and Fred, joined in to help run the business. Later, the company moved to 17th & Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica, which was our home for the next 25 years. In 1980, the business moved to 1726 Colorado Avenue, which Ray owned. Several years later, Ray's two sons, Mark and Mike took over, and have been running the company for the past 20 years.
In November 2011, we moved again to allow room for the Lite Rail Train Station. To this day, Mike Swartz is in command of the ship and carries more than 30 years of experience. You're in good hands with Swartz Glass, that's for sure!
